MEET ALAN COHN

Alan Cohn has spent his career asking tough questions, uncovering the truth, and holding powerful institutions accountable. Now, he’s bringing that same mindset to Tampa, where he’s running for City Council to fight for the community he calls home.

For more than three decades, Alan worked as an investigative journalist, building a reputation for digging into complex issues and delivering real results. His work earned some of the highest honors in journalism, including a prestigious Peabody Award for exposing serious safety failures involving Black Hawk helicopters used by the U.S. military.

But for Alan, journalism was never just about telling stories.
It was about making a difference.

Throughout his career, he uncovered corruption, exposed systemic failures, and helped drive accountability in both government and the private sector. Whether it was investigating public safety risks, exposing wrongdoing, or giving a voice to people who felt ignored, Alan built his career on one simple principle: if something isn’t working for everyday people, it needs to be fixed.

That same belief is what drives him today.

Alan and his family have lived in the Tampa area for years, where they’ve built their lives, raised their children, and become part of the community. As a husband, father, and neighbor, he understands the challenges families face because he’s living them too.

After decades of covering government and politics, Alan made the decision to step forward and serve. People want leadership that is focused on solving problems, not politics.

PEOPLE want accountability, transparency, and results.
That’s exactly what Alan is running to deliver for Tampa.

He believes city government should work for the people who live here. That means focusing on the issues that actually impact daily life: safe neighborhoods, responsible growth, infrastructure that keeps up with our city, and protecting the quality of life that makes Tampa such a special place to live.

Alan isn’t coming into this race as a career politician. He’s coming in as someone who has spent his life asking the hard questions and demanding better outcomes.

Now, he’s ready to do the work from the inside.

Because for Alan, this campaign isn’t about politics. It’s about community. It’s about making sure Tampa continues to be a place where families can thrive, neighborhoods are protected, and local government earns the trust of the people it serves.
